Pilates has become a very popular exercise regime Worldwide. I have been teaching Pilates for quite some time now and have seen some brilliant results from it! One of the best things about the Pilates method is that it works very well for a wide range of poeple, including athletes, dancers, seniors, women post pregnancy and people who are at various stages of physical re-habilitation.
Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercise. When the core muscles are strong as they need to be they help to support the spine and movement. This is one of the ways Pilates helps people to overcome backpain. When the trunk is peoperly stabilised, pressure on the back is relieved and the body is able to move freely and efficiently. Physiotherapists and Chiropractitioners highly recommend Pilates as part of thier clients rehabilitation.
I use a whole range of exercises in my class and with private one to one clients. We work on core obviously but I also include a whole range of strength and flexibility exercises for the whole body, which helps to tone those problem areas. The class is suitable for all levels and can be as challenging as you want it to be.
